Photo Essay: Commissioning a Chaplain

Jenny Commissioning With Button

Jenny Schroedel was a recent Woman of the Week! We thought you'd like to see what happens when the Church commissions a chaplain. Jenny was commissioned by Fr. Andrew Morbey at St. Mary's Orthodox Cathedral, in Minneapolis, Minnesota after Liturgy on Sunday October 20. Jenny is also training to become a certified clinical pastoral education (CPE) educator.

From the Commissioning prayer of the Institutional Chaplain Commissioning Service of the Orthodox Church of America:

“Do Thou, O Lord, send forth your servant, Matushka Jenny, who desires to minister to the sick and suffering, the hungry, those in prison, the lame, the dying, and those with them, to be your servant minister to the grieving and those on hospice. May she be illumined, becoming an instrument of healing and grace; preserve her in blamelessness that her name may be written in heaven.”
